Welcome to my corner of the Internet, here you can find out about me, and some of the projects I've worked on and I'm currently working on. Feel free to contact me via the form provided on the contact page if you have any questions.
Yet more static content...
Though I'm working on a simplistic gallery script and have done other things using XSLT in combination with php to generate the XML data stream from in the case of the gallery a folder full of images, other likely things for the future include a dynamic front page in a more blog style (since this appears to be descending into a blog) as well as auto-indexing for the other sections eg projects.
Looking to the immediate pluses, the websites style has evolved yet again, been a slow path from the old days and I wonder what it will look like in the future, but for now a clean professional look in quite a contrast to the white on black one of my student days.
Website migrating to modxslt
Over the course of the next few days I plan to move this website over to using modxslt2 to provide XSLT function, this I believe is compatible with my hopes to use java servlets on a secondary server to handle larger processing jobs and database access.
Sorry about the barren look of the site, I became slightly unhappy with the general color scheme and so stopped work on the frills until I come up with a slightly more professional setup, sorry that might mean ikky grey and blue :)
... migration complete The pages are now valid XHTML 1.0, previously they were in HTML 4.01 and XHTML 1.1 for the browsers which support the different newer standards, but XHTML 1.0 allows HTML compatibility so older browsers can still run and there's no significant benefits from XHTML 1.1 at this time.
... migration rollback, had a problem with the hosting provider, so rolled back to HTML4.01 Strict, which is also now in guidelines with not displaying XHTML as text/html. Quite easy when your pages are all generated via XSLT.
More work done
It might not be obvious but I've been tweaking with the images, improved the CSS layout and progressed on the XSLT slightly to support more detailed XML base documents, though progress on MySQL/XML back end is very limited thus far I hope to improve upon it.
Website Nears Readiness
Taken quite a while but finally the website is nearing the state where it's actually usable. Lots more still to do, most importantly the extraction of the XML sources from databases, but still many other areas from graphical tweaks, alternative CSS sheets and RSS support.
